Yup! That's yours truly, Henry Gurr, at the Columbia (SC) Camera Store, 24 May 2002 5:30 PM. This Is the First Photo Taken On My New Camera! I was due to leave on my ZMM Research trip in just two days! Here I am tired but happy … I had finally purchased my camera for the trip. My first "digital", it is a Canon S30, 3MPixel with X3 Optical Zoom and with added X3 digital zoom. As of this writing, this camera has been very successful! It has gone through the insult of over 20,000 Miles of every abuse travel research can dish out: Heat, cold, rain, and intense rough gravel road car vibration ... and oh ... don't forget camping most of the time! Not to mention terrible road and trouser pocket dust and grime. This poor camera was constantly in and out of my pocket, just bumping around on the car seat, or dumped on the car floor. This camera has, with this treatment, thus successfully been through some 5000 pictures, computer downloads aplenty, and over 20 Compact Flash Cards (each 128 Mbytes. This whole time it was working like a champ with nary a glitch (not caused by myself) the whole time. Continued next photo. Church and Lake at Rippling Waters Church of God Campground. June 2002. The Rippling Waters Campground welcomes anyone and it is a great place to stay. Click here for reviews about Rippling Waters Campground. Continued from previous notes re my Digital Camera: Although, my Canon S30 was a great camera for the first 5218 photos, it increasingly refused to "come on". At first, it was balky if the battery was slightly lower than normal charge. Then finally no amount of charging or fancy tricks would bring it to life. Extensive Google search for [Canon Digital Camera Problems] yielded no help or even good clues. I even tried reloading the software. Canon wants way too much for repair and their troubleshooting WebPage was no help. Mechanically and optically it is just fine. And there is probably the tiniest of glitch in the electronics or software. But .... I finally had to give up and it's dead hulk lies in a storage box waiting for any new inspiration. Several Miles East off of I-77. About 14.18 miles South of Ripley, WV and 19.57 miles North of Sandyville, WV. ************************************ (Photo = 100-0002 ...... ZMM Page = NA ...... Hanging Glass Bead Sculpture in Sculpture Garden, of Walker Gallery of Art, Minneapolis MN. I encountered this attractive couple exploring (& experimenting with) this "hands-on-active-sculpture". They joyfully responded to my request "Can you dance for my camera?" Now I wish I had asked for their names to be placed in this caption.

The Long Lost Pirsig 1968 Picnic Canopy Has Been Found! “North Dakotans Are Cool and Kind!” On my second trip along the ZMM Route, I had the sense of great satisfaction and privileged as I took this photo! This was because, for a long time the geographical location of Pirsig's picnic area has been unknown, despite widespread efforts to the contrary. Finally, Gary Wegner taking leadership, wrote to the County Engineers in the North Dakota Counties of Richland and Sargent. Tim Schulte, Richland County Engineer, replied: “I did some checking with various folks in Richland County and nobody could remember a rest area along State Highway 13 in Richland County. Check Wyndmere, SD (Continued next photo.). Along Highway 13 at Milnor, ND. ************************************ (Photo = Summer 2006 0220 ...... ZMM Page = 025 ...... WayPt = -017i)
