A Huge Forest Fire Burned Off This Whole Area Many Years Ago!  “Later the trees become scarce and spindly, with large areas of grass and underbrush between them. It’s too hot for the jacket and sweater so I stop at a roadside pulloff to remove them. .. “(Cont.Next)  Colgate Lick Rest Area, Lochsa River Canyon, ID. This is the only “open area” I remember as I drove the Lochsa River Canyon. The Narrator takes up “Stuckness“ and “Unstuckness“. This is leading up to and is really part of his “Gumptionology 101“. He later calls this type of Chautauqua ‘dry and boring’. Such material he reserves for lower elevations where it is hot or, as here, getting warm. Only the Gumptionology discussions are interrupted when they happen to go up to higher, cooler, elevations where there are forests and meadows.
