This Photo, and Two Others Adjacent, Are Topo Maps That Show How To Drive, Or Hike, The ZMM Narrator’s Mountain Climb With Chris. These Three Topo Map can be click enlarged, or printed. Or you can Rt Click Save-As them in your computer, for transferr to your PDA. Marked on these maps are WayPoints 198 up to 215 and then 407 up to 507. These two groupings mark all my photo locations in The Gallatin National Forest, respectively, on 27 June and 10 September 2006.
Also on two of the three maps, are marked a hypothetical trail labeled N+C 01 thru N+C 33. These Points are my attempt to mark a trail that the ZMM Narrator and Chris might have used on their hike on, or around, 17 July 1968. In choosing these WayPoints, I have used the Narrators words as clues, along with knowledge of the forest, to construct a reasonable "hypothetical" hiking trail on the these two maps. These maps, in part, guided where I took my 10 Sept photos. Third Topo Map show Mt. Blackmore and Elephant Mountain. These are among the highest that would be approachable from the Cottonwood Canyon and surely would have summer snow. I believe were the Narrator's hiking goal All three maps fit together may be taped together to make a bigger composit. I apologize for not having the time, or physical strength, to explore and photograph the full hypothetical trail.
Therefore, trail enthusiasts are invited, indeed urged, to volunter their time and skill to a field check my trail hypothesis map. Please let me know by email what you find out. And if you have any other trail suggestions, or any other information please communicate. HenryG--Aiken.SC.edu
Since so much of ZMM has proven factual, I provisionally set aside the possibility that the Narrator's trail descriptions may be largely fictional. Click here for more information about ZMM Bozeman Mountain Climb Hypothetical Trail. This will open in new browser frame.
