Dark Volcanic Rock Along Route 97 Seen In Distance.

Somewhere en route to La Pine, OR. By the highway, there was plenty of dark (nearly black) volcanic rock at Lava Butte Volcanic Cinder Cone. This was at Lava Butte National Monument located 20 miles prior to Lapine, OR. This was not ture after Lava Butte. Although volcanic mountains were evident all around at a distance, I did not notice any dark volcanic rock among the trees along the highway. My notes only record spotting volcanic rock at the edge of sidewalks as seen in photo second next.
